“Helping kids make mistakes while they are with you so they don’t make them without you.”
In spite of what most children and adolescents believe, parents are more interested in their independence and autonomy than anything else. But they want them to be safe and make good choices. These are not often the hallmarks of young people.
This engaging workshop will invite participants to think about how to help kids have the space to make mistakes on their way to learning the skills of independence. This is a challenging task when you take into account the stress associated with developing the tolerance to let them do so!
The age groups of Elementary, Middle and High school will be discussed given that each have unique characteristics for movements toward independence.
