Catherine Hirce

PRE-LIC, Rostered Psychotherapist

Catherine Hirce earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Fairfield University. She went on to earn a Master’s in Therapeutic Interventions and a Certificate in School Psychology from Fordham University. For several years Catherine worked as a school psychologist and counselor for children and adolescents in New Jersey. Recently, she completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to be licensed in the state of Vermont. She is working under the supervision of Heidi Robbins, licensed psychologist, while she works toward her 3,000 supervised hours.

Catherine has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be struggling with mental health issues. Catherine sees clients in the Waterbury office and uses various therapies including psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral, play therapy, internal family systems therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Catherine has worked with individuals who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, stress management, divorce and family adjustment issues, and postpartum anxiety and depression.

She uses a client-centered approach as she creates a supportive and nonjudgmental environment that allows the client to explore their emotions, identify behavior patterns, and evaluate whether their coping skills are currently serving them. Clients work with Catherine to resolve any trauma from their past and develop healthier lifestyles and relationships with others. Catherine enjoys learning about her clients and bringing in elements that they respond to, including nature walks, mindfulness, breathwork, arts and crafts, and music.

Note: Vermont requires that all individuals who provide psychotherapy services must register for the Board’s roster of non-licensed, non-certified psychotherapists and then must complete 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience in no less than two years, including 2,000 hours of direct client contact. They must receive at least one hour of face-to-face supervision for every 30 hours of accrued experience from an approved Vermont supervisor and at least 50 hours must be on an individual basis.
