Gary Frankel, LICSW

Gary joined Hannah’s House in 2014 as an affiliate and specializes in working with adolescents, young adults and families that are experiencing anxiety, depression, substance abuse and identity issues. Gary holds a Vermont State License for Clinical Social Work and has been a social worker and mental health counselor for almost 30 years.

Gary has worked as a social worker and mental health counselor in both private and public service settings. He is contracted by the local school district and spends time at both Harwood Union High School and Crossett Brook Middle School working with individual students and leading group sessions. Gary has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Vermont.

“Young adults, individuals and families face many complex challenges today and taking care of their mental health should be as much of a priority as their physical health. I believe that the therapeutic process should be client centered and based on unconditional acceptance and connection.” Gary’s therapeutic approach is based on a relationship building model steeped in motivational enhancement and cognitive behavioral therapies. His style can be described as engaging, creative and solutions focused.

Outside of work, Gary enjoys being in nature, playing guitar in a local band, working on and driving his old VW, seeing live music, and spending time with his family and friends.

His practice accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and Medicaid.
